Trulli & Coastline Wonders
6th – 10th April 2026

Itinerary Overview: Day 1 – Departure, Trani and Arrival in Alberobello
We will convene with our Tour Leader at Malta International Airport at 04:30hrs for check-in on our flight, departing for Bari, scheduled to depart at 06:30hrs. Upon arrival, a coach will be waiting to transport us to Trani, a picturesque town located along the Adriatic coast. We will wander through its narrow, cobbled streets and make our way to the imposing Cathedral of Trani, dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim. This majestic cathedral, overlooking the sea, is a striking example of Romanesque architecture. We will also visit the Trani Castle, a remarkable fortress built by Frederick II of Swabia.
After our visit, we head to Molfetta, where you can enjoy free time shopping at the Molfetta Outlet Village, offering a variety of Italian and international brands at great discounts.
Than we will continue our journey, we will head to the Itria Valley in Alberobello. After settling into our accommodations, we will proceed on a guided walking tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Alberobello is renowned for its iconic Trulli houses, a distinctive architectural style unique to the region. As we explore the town, we will have the opportunity to admire the colorful floral displays adorning the Trulli and appreciate the exceptional craftsmanship involved in their construction. Along the way, we will pass a variety of local shops and immerse ourselves in the picturesque surroundings, a place so striking it defies description.
The tour will conclude with a visit to the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova (Chiesa a Trullo). Afterward, guests will have some leisure time to explore the area at their own pace before gathering for dinner.
Itinerary Overview: Day 2 – Zoosafari and Polignano a Mare
After breakfast, we will embark on an optional excursion to Zoosafari, where we will experience a thrilling safari tour through the park’s wildest areas.
The drive will take us along a scenic route through olive groves and ancient carob trees, offering a unique opportunity to encounter a wide variety of animals.
From iconic savannah species such as tigers, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and lions, to animals typical of other ecosystems, including deer, camels, collared bears, and flamingos, this promises to be a memorable adventure. Following the Zoosafari, we will continue to Polignano a Mare, a charming town situated on the coast of Valle d’Istria.
Perched 20 meters above the emerald waters of the Adriatic Sea, the town offers breathtaking views. A stroll through the pedestrian zone will lead us to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, where we can enjoy panoramic vistas of the sea and the rugged Adriatic coastline. As we meander through the winding streets of the old town, we will be captivated by the sight of a beautiful beach nestled between towering cliffs, its crystal-clear waters offering a tranquil and stunning contrast to the surrounding landscape.
After some free time to explore and soak in the charm of Polignano, we will return to our coach and head back to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Itinerary Overview: Day 3 – Matera
After breakfast, we will meet our local guide for a visit to Matera, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Matera, located in the Basilicata region, is renowned for its distinctive Sassi district, a historic area carved into the limestone rock. Accompanied by our local guide, we will take a walking tour through the historic center, exploring significant landmarks and delving into the fascinating cave dwellings that once housed many families. These homes, carved directly into the rock, were occupied under extremely harsh conditions until the population was evacuated in 1952 due to the severe poverty and unsanitary living conditions.
During the tour, we will also visit several churches that have been built inside these caves. Our guide will take us to Murigia Hill and the only road that allows vehicular access to the Sassi area—a road constructed during Mussolini’s regime.
Before returning to the historic center of Matera, we will have the opportunity to taste some of the region’s typical products, offering a taste of local culture and cuisine. Following this, we will be given free time to further explore the city at our own pace.
Afterward, we will return to Alberobello, where there will be time for dinner and an opportunity to revisit the town center.
Itinerary Overview: Day 4 – Grotte di Castellana – Casamassima – Bari
After breakfast, we check out and bid farewell to the fairytale town of Alberobello. Our journey continues to the Grotte di Castellana, one of Italy’s most spectacular cave systems. Here, we descend into a mesmerizing underground world of stalactites and stalagmites, where nature has sculpted breathtaking formations over millions of years.
After exploring this natural wonder, we make our way to Casamassima, famously known as the “Blue Town” for its picturesque streets painted in varying shades of blue. Take a leisurely stroll through its winding alleys and capture postcard-perfect moments before heading to Bari, the lively capital of the Puglia region.
Upon arrival, we will check in to our hotel and take some time to rest and unwind, perhaps enjoying a quiet evening or a gentle walk along Bari’s elegant seafront promenade.
Itinerary Overview: Day 5 – Bari and Departure
After breakfast, we will check out and head for a visit to Bari, the capital city of Puglia. Our walking tour will take us through the charming streets of the historic center, where we will have the opportunity to observe local housewives preparing orecchiette, the traditional pasta of Puglia.
After exploring the town and its key landmarks, we will make our way to Bari Airport to check in for our flight back to Malta, scheduled to depart at 12:20 hrs.
