Itinerary Overview: Day 1 – Arrival, Caccamo e il Castello
We will gather at Malta International Airport at 4:00 am, where we will meet our tour leader and check in for our 6:10 am flight. Upon landing in Catania, we will head toward the Catania-Messina motorway, making our way to the stunning Villa Dafne, an agriturismo resort that will be our home for the next four days. You will be accommodated in comfortable rooms, equipped with all modern amenities. After a brief rest, we will reconvene to explore the surroundings and get familiar with this beautiful location.
Once we’ve settled in, we will embark on our first adventure—an excursion to Caccamo e il Castello. Caccamo Castle offers the perfect mix of history, breathtaking views, and relaxation. You will have the opportunity to explore the castle’s remarkably preserved medieval architecture, including its towers, ancient prisons, and frescoed halls. Don’t miss the panoramic terraces, which provide stunning views of the surrounding valley and the San Leonardo River. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing stroll through the quaint town of Caccamo, where you can indulge in a coffee or a local Sicilian treat at one of the cozy cafés.
There’s also time to unwind and take a dip in one of Villa Dafne’s two inviting swimming pools before dinner. Later, when the time is right, we’ll gather for a wholesome, organic meal in the resort’s restaurant, completing a perfect first day in Sicily.
Itinerary Overview: Day 2 – Exploring Palermo
After a hearty breakfast, we will embark on an exciting journey to the heart of Sicily’s vibrant capital, Palermo. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic city centre, where we will encounter a wealth of stunning attractions. Highlights include the magnificent Norman Cathedral, the picturesque Piazza Quattro Canti, the striking Piazza della Vergogna, the grand Teatro Massimo, and many other architectural gems.
After soaking in the rich culture and beauty of Palermo, we will return to our comfortable coach and head back to our serene resort. The evening will be yours to enjoy a delicious dinner and some well-deserved free time to relax.
Itinerary Overview: Day 3 – Day of Tranquility and Discovery at Villa Dafne
After breakfast, we’ve planned a special day that offers a change of pace—allowing you to relax and fully immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of Villa Dafne resort. Today, you will have the chance to unwind and soak in the stunning scenery, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
For those who wish to explore, you can join a local instructor for a scenic horseback ride through the surrounding countryside. Alternatively, you can relax by one of the resort’s pools or take advantage of the fitness area near the tennis court.
In the afternoon, we will embark on an educational tour of the agriturismo’s farm. Our coach will take us to see the farm animals—cows, sheep, pigs, and more—up close. You will learn about the daily care of the animals, witness the milking process, and discover how ricotta and traditional Sicilian cheeses like gbejniet are made. We will also visit the cheese maturation area to see how different flavors are developed.
This is a day packed with local experiences and insights into Sicilian specialties that you won’t want to miss. We will end this delightful day with a shared dinner, reflecting on the unique activities and memories we’ve made together.
Itinerary Overview: Day 4 – Monreal
After a delicious breakfast, we set off for the stunning Cattedrale di Monreale, a masterpiece of Norman architecture. Take your time to explore the cathedral’s intricate mosaics and rich history. Built in the 12th century, this awe-inspiring cathedral is renowned for its dazzling mosaics, which cover over 6,000 square meters of its interior. These mosaics, crafted with meticulous precision, depict biblical scenes in vibrant gold, offering a breathtaking visual narrative of the Christian faith. Following the visit, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the nearby shops, where you’ll have time to pick up some local souvenirs and keepsakes.
Itinerary Overview: Day 5– Day of Exploration and Departure
After breakfast, we will pack our bags and bid farewell to the beautiful Villa Dafne Resort for the last time. As we make our way toward Catania, we will take a scenic detour to a charming village nestled in the heart of Sicily. Our first stop will be the historic center of Enna, where we will take a leisurely walk to the belvedere, offering breathtaking views of the Dittaino Valley and the hill of Borgo Calascibetta.
From there, we will continue our ascent to the Cathedral Square and make our way up to the Piazza Castello di Lombardia, where we can admire the grandeur of this historic castle and its surroundings. After taking in the sights, we will descend back to the Dittaino Valley for a visit to the Sicilia Outlet Village—a shopping haven, especially popular among Maltese visitors. Here, you will find a wide range of brand-name stores offering significant discounts on high-quality products.
Our final stop before heading to the airport will be at Centro Sicilia, giving you one last opportunity to shop for souvenirs or gifts. We will then make our way to the airport to catch our 11:00 pm flight, bringing an end to this unforgettable Sicilian adventure.
