Itinerary Overview: Day 1 – Arrival in the Black Forest Region

We will meet the tour leader at Malta International Airport at 12:00hrs for our KM Malta Air flight to Zurich, scheduled to depart at 14:25hrs. Upon arrival in Zurich, we will board our private coach for a scenic transfer to our hotel located in the heart of the charming Black Forest town of Waldkirch. After checking in and settling into our rooms, you will have time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of this enchanting Black Forest village and its surroundings.

Itinerary Overview: Day 2 – Triberg Waterfalls, Cuckoo Clocks & Lake Titisee

After breakfast, we set off on a memorable excursion into the heart of the Black Forest region. Our first stop is the charming town of Triberg, home to the highest waterfalls in Germany, with a dramatic 163-metre cascade spread across seven levels. Nestled along the famous Black Forest railway line, Triberg attracts over half a million visitors each year who come to witness this awe-inspiring natural spectacle.
A short drive from the falls brings us to a unique highlight—the world’s largest cuckoo clock. We will make a brief stop here for photos and a bit of souvenir shopping, as this spot offers charming handcrafted keepsakes typical of the region.
We then continue to the beautiful Lake Titisee, a true gem of the southern Black Forest. Surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque hills, this emerald lake is a beloved getaway for locals and visitors alike. You will have some free time to explore the lakeside village or relax by the water. In the late afternoon, we return to our hotel in Waldkrich, bringing a perfect end to a day full of nature, culture, and local charm.

Itinerary Overview: Day 3 – The village of Waldkirch & New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Today, we will enjoy a relaxed winter walking tour through the charming Black Forest town of Waldkirch. The stroll will take us through the picturesque old town with its traditional architecture, historic alleyways and festive New Year atmosphere. Along the way, we will visit the Marktplatz and the beautiful St. Margarethen Church. During the walk, there will be time to stop at a traditional German bakery to enjoy seasonal pastries and warm drinks, followed by a cozy Glühwein break to experience one of Germany’s favourite winter customs. The tour will also include views towards the surrounding Black Forest hills and some of the town’s oldest historic buildings before returning to the hotel around lunchtime.
The evening is yours to relax and prepare for a joyful New Year’s Eve celebration as we welcome the arrival of the New Year in festive Black Forest style.

Itinerary Overview: Day 4 – Europa Park

After a relaxed breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure—or, for those seeking excitement, we invite you to join an optional excursion to one of Europe’s most beloved attractions: Europa-Park.
Located in Rust, Germany, Europa-Park is the largest theme park in the country and a favorite destination for visitors of all ages. The park is renowned for its unique concept of themed zones, each representing a different European country, beautifully designed with authentic architecture, cuisine, and entertainment. With over 100 attractions, from thrilling roller coasters and family-friendly rides to spectacular live shows and immersive experiences, Europa-Park promises an unforgettable adventure. Whether you’re chasing adrenaline or enjoying the charming ambiance of each themed land, there’s truly something for everyone. Enjoy the park’s diverse dining options, offering everything from traditional German fare to Mediterranean delights, and browse the many shops for one-of-a-kind souvenirs to remember your day.
This optional excursion is a fantastic opportunity to add a magical experience to your journey and create lasting memories in one of Europe’s top leisure destinations. In the evening, we return to the hotel.

Itinerary Overview: Day 5 – The Charm of Strasbourg & Dorotheenhütte Glass Factory

After breakfast, we embark on another delightful journey—this time to the capital of the European Union, the enchanting city of Strasbourg. Our scenic drive takes us through one of the Black Forest’s most picturesque routes surrounded by dense pine forests and rolling hills that perfectly capture the region’s natural beauty. On our way, we will make a brief stop at the renowned Dorotheenhütte Glass Factory, often referred to as a glass paradise. Here, you will have the chance to observe traditional glassblowing techniques and browse beautifully crafted glassware and souvenirs.
We then continue our journey, crossing the German-French border and making our way into Strasbourg. Upon arrival, our coach will drop us off just outside the city center. From here, we will enjoy a guided walk with our tour leader, beginning with a visit to Strasbourg’s most iconic site, the Notre Dame Cathedral, a stunning Gothic masterpiece that lies at the heart of the Old Town. Before reaching the cathedral, we will cross the Canal du Rhône au Rhin, offering lovely views of the city’s waterways. Our walking tour continues along the riverbanks, leading us to La Petite France, one of the most charming and photogenic quarters of Strasbourg, known for its half-timbered houses and flower-lined canals.
After some free time to explore, shop, or enjoy a local café, we regroup and return to our hotel in Waldkirch for a relaxing evening.

Itinerary Overview: Day 6 – Storybook Colmar & Vibrant Freiburg

Today, we journey into the heart of Alsace to discover the fairytale town of Colmar, a true gem nestled near the borders of France, Germany, and Switzerland. Known for its picture-perfect streets and enchanting charm, Colmar feels like a town lifted straight from the pages of a storybook. With its pastel-colored, half-timbered houses, flower-filled balconies, and gently winding canals, Colmar offers a magical blend of romance, history, and traditional Alsatian architecture. Take time to wander through its cobblestone lanes, admire the vibrant market squares, or enjoy a local treat from one of the inviting patisseries and cafés scattered throughout the old town.
In the afternoon, we continue on to the lively city of Freiburg, located at the edge of the Black Forest in southern Germany. A city full of energy and charm, Freiburg is known for its mix of tradition and modernity, its eco-conscious lifestyle, and its sun-soaked appeal. Our walking tour will take us through the vibrant city center to the iconic Freiburger Münster, a stunning Gothic cathedral crowned with an intricate spire. We will then make our way down Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, Freiburg’s bustling main street, lined with department stores, boutiques, and cafés—perfect for shopping or simply soaking in the lively atmosphere.
After our visit, we return to Waldkirch for a relaxing evening at our hotel.

Itinerary Overview: Day 7 – Schaffhausen, Rhine Falls & Departure

After breakfast, we load our luggage and say goodbye to the Black Forest region as we begin our journey toward Switzerland’s medieval gem—Schaffhausen.
Nestled along the High Rhine and surrounded by vineyards, Schaffhausen boasts one of the most beautiful Old Towns in Switzerland, known for its charming traffic-free streets, elaborately painted facades, and distinctive oriel windows. Many of the elegant guild and merchant houses reflect stunning Gothic and Baroque architecture, while the impressive Munot Fortress watches over the town from above. We will have some free time to wander through the historic center, soaking in the timeless atmosphere and discovering its hidden corners, boutique shops, or perhaps a cozy café.
Our journey then continues to one of Switzerland’s most iconic natural wonders—Rhine Falls. Considered the most powerful waterfall in Europe, this breathtaking cascade near the town of Neuhausen is truly a sight to behold.
After marveling at this final highlight, we make our way to Zurich Airport to check in for our return flight to Malta with KM Malta Air, scheduled to depart at 17:40 hrs. With wonderful memories and unforgettable experiences to cherish, we conclude our unforgettable journey through the Black Forest regions.
