29th December
We will meet our tour leader at Malta International Airport at 6:00 AM to check in for our flight to Trieste, which departs at 8:00 AM. Upon arrival at Trieste Airport, we will begin our journey to Monte Lussari. Once we reach Monte Lussari, we will ascend the mountain via a modern cable car (entrance fee is not included in the package), taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Alps, picturesque hiking trails, and a charming, snow-covered mountain shrine. After enjoying the serene atmosphere at the summit, we can relax at one of the local restaurants or cafés.
Following our descent from Monte Lussari, we will head to Lago di Fusine, where crystal-clear alpine lakes are surrounded by dense forests and towering peaks. After a short stroll, we will return to our coach and proceed to Lake Bled, where we will check into our hotel. Once settled, we will join our tour leader for a brief walk around the small village to familiarize ourselves with the area. After some leisure time, we will reconvene for dinner at the hotel.
30th December
After breakfast, first, we will visit Velden, the famous and vibrant village on the shore of Lake Wörthersee. We will later drive to the popular Pyramidenkogel (entrance fee is not included in the package), the highest observation tower in the world with a total height of 100 metres, brings you to 850m to enjoy a 360 degrees panoramic view of Carinthia’s wonderful lakes and mountains. We then proceed to the 17th century town of Klagenfurt in the southern part of Austria. Located on the eastern bank of Alke Worthersee, Carinthia’s capital makes a wonderful destination thanks to its cultural treasures and nearby mountains. The Neuerplatz is dominated by the Lindwurm, a winged dragon, which is the emblem of the city and was modelled on the dragon of a local legend. Here we will have the opportunity to visit the most popular popular department in Carinthia. Free time and we will prepare to drive back to Lake Bled for dinner and overnight.
31st December – New Year’s Eve
Today, our full-day excursion will take us to explore the iconic Lake Bled Castle (please note that the entrance fee is not included in the package), often referred to as the “pearl of Slovenia.” In the afternoon, we will enjoy a relaxing half-day excursion to Lake Bohinj, a stunning lake known for its beautiful reflections of the surrounding landscape. Later, we will take cable car ride up Mount Vogel to admire the breathtaking views.
We will return to the hotel to prepare for a special evening. We will celebrate with a New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel, and, weather permitting, join the festivities along the lake.
1st January – Happy New Year!
After a late breakfast, we will travel to Kranjska Gora Ski Resort for a walk around and take in the atmosphere of this quaint ski village. We will have time to explore the area and you can have the opportunity to take a cable car ride, ride on a chair lift and even choose to take a toboggan ride down the slopes (Cable car, chair lift and toboggan are not included in the package). After spending some time there, we will drive to the picturesque Lake Jasna, just 2 km from Kranjska Gora.
This beautiful alpine lake offers breathtaking views, with a towering mountain peak as a stunning backdrop. We will have some time to relax and explore the area around the lake before returning to the hotel for dinner.
2nd January
After breakfast, we will visit Predjama Castle, an impressive fortress built into the cliffs, renowned for its fascinating history. Following a short drive, we will arrive in Postojna, located in the Slovenian Karst region. Over the past 175 years, more than 26 million visitors from around the world have marveled at the stalagmites and stalactites of Postojna Cave. This 20-kilometer-long network of interconnected galleries, halls, and shafts, the largest in Europe, is a natural wonder. You will also be amazed by the mysterious “human fish” (Proteus anguinus).
From a special cave train, we will explore this remarkable subterranean world. In the afternoon, we will return to Bled, where dinner and overnight accommodation await at the hotel.
3rd January
After breakfast we will visit Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, known already from the Roman era as the meeting point of Roman, Germanic and Slavic nations. We’ll take a walk through the old part of the town, which lies between the castle hill and the Ljubljanica river, where we can admire the Baroque and Secessionist period buildings, as well as the works of the great Slovene architect Jože Plecnik. Some free time for shopping in BTC city or somewhere else in Ljubljana. Time to return back to the resort for dinner and over night.
4th January
Start off the day with breakfast. After some free time, we start loading the luggage on to the coach to start our way to Zagreb airport in Croatia. We will check in for our flight departing to Malta at 14.05. First we partake in breakfast, then after some free time we start loading the luggage to start our way to Zagreb airport in Croatia.
