Itinerary Overview: Day 1 – Arrival in Slovenia, Monte Lussari and Lago di Fusine
Our journey begins with a meeting at Malta International Airport at 07:00 hrs, where we will gather with our tour leader for check-in before our flight to Zagreb, departing at 09:10 hrs. Upon arrival at Zagreb Airport, we set off on a scenic drive towards Monte Lussari. Once there, those who wish may optionally ascend the mountain by cable car. As it glides above the valley, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the lush alpine peaks, winding trails, and a charming mountain village topped by a tranquil sanctuary. At the summit, you can take time to enjoy the peaceful alpine atmosphere.
We then descend and continue to the enchanting Lago di Fusine, where crystal-clear alpine lakes lie nestled among dense forests and majestic peaks. After a short, leisurely stroll to appreciate the tranquil beauty of this natural gem, we rejoin our coach and make our way to the iconic Kranjska Gora to check into our hotel. After settling in we will come together in the evening for a welcome dinner at the hotel.
Itinerary Overview: Day 2 – Velden, Pyramidenkogel & Klagenfurt
After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to Velden, a lively and elegant resort town nestled along the shimmering shores of Lake Wörthersee. Known for its picturesque promenade and charming atmosphere, Velden offers the perfect start to a day of exploration. Our journey continues to the remarkable Pyramidenkogel, the tallest wooden observation tower in the world, soaring to a height of 100 meters. From its viewing platform at 850 meters above sea level, we will enjoy an unforgettable 360-degree panoramic view of Carinthia’s breathtaking lakes and mountain landscape—a true highlight of the region.
Next, we head to the historic 17th-century town of Klagenfurt, the cultural heart of southern Austria. During our guided city tour, we will explore its architectural gems and enjoy the lively summer atmosphere of Klagenfurt, known for its open squares, cafés, and lakeside charm. Situated on the eastern banks of Lake Wörthersee, Klagenfurt beautifully blends history, culture, and natural beauty.
In Neuerplatz, the city’s central square, we will encounter the iconic Lindwurm Fountain—a striking winged dragon sculpture inspired by local legend and symbolizing the city’s unique character. There will also be time for a visit to one of Carinthia’s most popular department stores, perfect for some shopping or browsing local specialties.
