Itinerary Overview: Day 1 – Departure from Malta & Arrival in the Black Forest

We will meet at Malta International Airport for our flight to Zurich. Upon arrival, we will meet our driver and transfer to Germany’s Black Forest region. Our base will be the charming town of Villingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg, surrounded by forests and rolling countryside. Arrival at the hotel, check-in and time to relax. Overnight in Villingen-Schwenningen.

Itinerary Overview: Day 2 – Exploring the Heart of the Black Forest

After breakfast at our hotel in Villingen-Schwenningen, we set off for a full-day excursion into the enchanting Black Forest region. Our first stop will be the spectacular Triberg Waterfalls, the highest in Germany, where the water cascades dramatically through the forest. We will then visit Triberg to see the traditional Cuckoo Clock and browse for local souvenirs before continuing to the picturesque Titisee Lake. In the afternoon, we return to our hotel in Villingen-Schwenningen for an overnight stay.

Itinerary Overview: Day 3 – Lake Constance & Mainau

IslandToday we travel from Villingen-Schwenningen to Lake Constance, one of Central Europe’s largest freshwater lakes, located between Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Upon arrival, we will enjoy time along the lakeside promenade with views of the Alpine backdrop. The highlight of the day is a visit to Mainau Island, the famous “Flower Island,” known for its botanical gardens, colourful displays, and Butterfly House. After our visit, we return to our hotel in Villingen-Schwenningen for an overnight stay.

Itinerary Overview: Day 4 – Strasbourg, Capital of Europe

Following breakfast, we depart from Villingen-Schwenningen for Strasbourg, the charming
capital of the Alsace region and an important centre of the European Union. Crossing the
German-French border, we arrive in this captivating city known for its blend of French and
German influences. We will explore the historic centre, including the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral and the picturesque “Petite France” district with its canals and half-timbered houses. Free time will be given for lunch or personal exploration before returning in the late afternoon to our hotel in Villingen-Schwenningen for our final overnight stay.

Itinerary Overview: Day 5 – Schaffausen & the Rhine Falls – Return to Malta

After breakfast and check-out from our hotel in Villingen-Schwenningen, we begin our journey towards Switzerland. Our first stop is the medieval town of Schaffausen, known for its painted facades, charming Old Town, where you will have free time to explore. We then continue to the impressive Rhine Falls, Europe’s most powerful waterfalls, offering spectacular viewing platforms to admire this natural wonder. After our visit, we proceed to Zurich Airport for our return flight to Malta, arriving back in the evening.
